Our story & Values
Born from the encounter of an agronomist and an agribusiness specialist volunteering in Madagascar, Cacao Link was inspired by farmers’ passion and their success in national fermentation competitions. We share their belief that cacao is more than a livelihood—it’s legacy, hope, and positive change. People and quality guide every decision, as we lift barriers for farmers and customers alike.

Lucia Rakotovololona

Co-founder & Chief Executive Officer

Born and raised in Madagascar, Lucia owns a PhD in agronomic sciences and has extensive experience supporting rural development projects in Southern Africa and Southeast Asia. She is a chocolate lover on a lifelong journey to learn more about fine cacao, chocolate making and chocolate tasting.

Hiroaki Sonoda

Co-founder & Chief Strategic Officer

Born in Japan, Hiroaki acquired an MBA and has extensive experience in social enterprise and business development in Africa in both public and private sectors. He met Malagasy cacao in 2021 and fell in love with it. Since then, his passion has lied in increasing cacao farmers’ income for better livelihood and producing best quality cacao.

Sanda Randresiarilala

Executive Assistant

With a background in public law and hands-on experience in marketing, Sanda discovered the world of cacao upon joining CacaoLink—and instantly got hooked. A passionate food lover and curious mind, he is driven by the desire to contribute to Madagascar's growth journey, one step at a time.
